Our tenth year will take CalMatters’ journalism to the next level: informing and impacting even more Californians, making the state a better place to live.

CalMatters has published more than 11,000 stories and columns that Californians have used to transform the state’s future.

CalMatters’ journalism was described as “outstanding,” “top-notch” and “presented with empathy” by judges in the California Journalism Awards.

CalMatters launched Digital Democracy in April, and its impact has rippled across the Legislature.

The awards honor human-centric reporting and photography from CalMatters.

CalMatters was joined by more than 1,000 Californians in Sacramento and online for the first-ever Ideas Festival.

CalMatters has won a Northern California Emmy award for the second year in a row, with videos produced in partnership with Julie Watts of CBS Sacramento.

The new collaboration offers two-minute video updates on vital issues across Southern California.

The CalMatters honor is in the 90th National Headliner Awards contest, founded in 1934.
